PARISH CHURCH AUGUST 2022
The parish of St. Laurence O'Toole, Kilmacud, was established in 1964, encompassing the areas of Kilmacud and Stillorgan. Prior to this, the local church for residents was in Mount Merrion. This change marked a significant step in the development of the area, driven by the post-WWII expansion of Dublin and the subsequent growth of Kilmacud and Stillorgan.

MOUNT ANVILLE SCHOOL
Located near St Laurence O'Toole's, Mount Anville Primary School boasts a rich history dating back to 1831 when a school was first established on Kilmacud Road. Here's a brief overview of its development:

THE MILL HOUSE
Located on Lower Kilmacud Road, the Mill House has been a fixture in Stillorgan since its establishment in 1967 by Patrick Joseph Freeney. Operating initially as Freeney's Mill House, it quickly became a popular local pub.

LOWER KILMACUD ROAD
In August 2022, I took the Luas tram to the Kilmacud stop and walked to Stillorgan. Based on my experience, this wasn't a good idea especially when carrying a heavy camera on a really hot day.

STILLORGAN ORCHARD AUGUST 2022
The Stillorgan Orchard ceased trading as a pub in early 2023. It was not sold as a going concern, but as a site for redevelopment. This has indeed caused sadness among locals who frequented the popular establishment.

SHOPPING CENTRE
I recently came across an online comment lamenting the disappearance of Stillorgan Shopping Centre, now replaced by "Stillorgan Village." I share the sentiment; these rebranded names often lack character and historical connection. It brought back memories of my own experiences with this iconic Dublin landmark.
